anniversary

so if you follow me on instagram you saw one pretty excited lady getting into a limo last night.

let me give you some back story

Micah and I were inspired by a couple that we've looked up to from before we even got married. They renew their vows every five years. They say it is just a reminder that whether it was a rough five years or good it doesn't matter marriage is sacred and they do it to keep that in mind. A reminder. Something they do in a society where marriage is no longer deemed precious. I think they are coming up to their twenty year mark soon.
That stuck with us and decided we wanted to do the same.
so at our five year, we renewed our vows with Elvis as our officiant at the The Wedding Chapel there in Las Vegas and our close friends and family there to witness as we said our "I do's" again and it was magical.

We had decided  a couple years back we are going to do a beach renewal for our tenth and are planning a London/Paris trip afterward almost like a second honeymoon.

Information overload I know but it is to tell you how special last night was for me us. All the other anniversaries in between are simple and quiet. Maybe a card. Maybe a dinner. We acknowledge our special day and how far we've come or how much more we've grown together with each passing year but that is about it.

So when I woke to find flowers and a card from Micah on our nine year yesterday I was all giddy inside. It wasn't until opening the card to read the surprise he had in store when I became a crazy woman happy dancing all over the house.

His card to me read:
Nat,
I can't express my love for you enough in this stupid card. Your courage, strength, patience, pererverence, wisdom & fortitude are awe-inspiring. Getting through this year together warrants celebrating in style. So here is a quick summary of tonights events.

5:00 pm Josh & Katie arive to watch the babies. They are instructed to play with them so you can have time to get ready.
8:00 pm The Limo arrives (enter me squealing here)
8:30 Dinner reservation @ "A Restaurant" in Newport Beach

The rest of the night is ours to take!
I love you and Happy Nine Year Anniversary Babe.

Micah

So now do you see why I was squealing and running around the house. Up until reading this I thought we were ordering pizza and staying in with a good movie.

This night goes down in the most memorable category. We were carefree and spontaneous. I laughed so hard my stomach ached. The food was delicious and our time together precious.

After our UH-MAZING dinner, as we entered the limo our chauffeur let us now we had a little over an hour left to drive and Micah looked at me and then back at her and said, "Just drive up PCH for the remainder of the time"

and that is exactly what we did. Micah had the windows down and was gazing out at the ocean while I rested on him as we listened to the best playlist I have ever heard.

It started with the song we first kissed to, to memorable songs from all our road trips, to our favorite bands we saw live in concert, to music we loved while pregnant with Elsie and so forth. I cried. Happy tears. Quietly, against his chest. I couldn't have planned a more perfect evening nor a more perfect husband.
Like he said about not being able to express his love for me in that card, nor can I on this blog. But I hope to look back on this post in years to come and remember this night. The beauty in the simplicity of this evening. Just us. Carefree. In love more now than we were nine years prior. And I know it's only going to get better from here. That blesses the heck out of me knowing that.
