our weekend + iPhone photo dump

Our family festivities began Friday night with a trip to one of our fave spots in Old Town Orange. After a yummy din we walked around the shops, stopped at the fountain for LIVE music and then treated the babes to ice cream and picked up some cupcakes for us big kids.
On Saturday we had no plans so decided to head to the beach. But first stopped off at our local Italian market for some special treats and for the Italian Combo Sub (a must for a beach trip)
We were Micah was so grateful we stopped for the subs first because we didn't account for the amount of traffic we'd hit because not only was the Orange County Fair still going on but we completely forgot about the Huntington Beach U.S Open... lets just say our normal quick 10 minute trip took almost 45 minutes so we just scarfed down all the yummy goodness while listening to music as we sat and waited.
I actually discovered that eating in the car prior to the beach made the trip so much more relaxing not having to worry about sand getting into everything, plus wiping down Vernon only had to happen once instead of a million times. I swear he gets so sticky from all the food and sand combined that I'm always afraid one of those crazy seagulls are just gonna swoop him up.
This is basically how our beach trips normally end. A trip to BJ's pizza at Balboa Pier, but instead of pizza we went with Nachos tho time and though completely full and exhausted still couldn't resist a pazookie! We weren't even on the freeway when we looked back to see both babes HARD asleep.

So my little blog banner was featured in Artful Magazine (which is why the day before we stopped off for Cannolis to celebrate...only fitting right?) and I still hadn't received my copy in the mail so before evening church service we stopped of at our Barnes & Nobles so I could show Micah again and then grabbed some Starbucks and hung out in the kiddy corner while Elsie and Vernon looked at books and we sipped on our coffee treats.
This basically sums up our weekend. We played hard, and slept hard. Lots of yummy treats were eaten, lots of swimming was done but most of all sweet memories were made. A much needed weekend of just us.
