Vernon's turning O-N-E!

My lil' man will be turning ONE this Wednesday but we had a very intimate celebration this afternoon. It was perfect.
Though we weren't throwing a party I wanted to make it special and decorate as if we were.
From the day this little miracle entered our world he has been our ray of sunshine. He has brought us so much joy and can light up any room with his smile. We decided to go with a color scheme that suited him (grey/yellow)with "You are my Sunshine" as our theme.

Elsie helped paint the "Sunshine" wood art plus baked and dipped the cake pops! Sweet big Sis

He went right after the cake the second we placed it in front of him, except he had no idea what to do with it.

but once he did, there was no stopping this kid.
 he loved it
and completely freaked when we took it away from him. haha!

These past few days have been, well... rough. I can barely go five minutes without hot tears welling up.
I keep thinking how Vernon came into my life at such a necessary time and I can't help but reflect on this past year. Though there were hardships and struggles there was also so much love and laughter that this little bundle brought us. He is my Sunshine and always will be.
Now I'm off to stare at the slideshow Micah made of his first year and cry, for the hundredth time today.

Such a sweet, sweet post for you precious little man. He is so handsome. I LOVE the decor! Watching our kids grow up is so hard, yet so rewarding. Here's to many more happy years with your precious boy.

what a sweet post...it's funny...I was just having a conversation with my seventeen year old about how necessary his entrance into my life was at that time. :) ENJOY!

Love it! The chevrons, the sunshine artwork, the cake... and the sweet sad face when the cake was gone. I didn't used to be a fan of yellow, but the gray/yellow combo is rocking my world right now.
