Scenes from the weekend

Friday night was not our typical Friday night of netflix watching, embroidering and eating pizza. It was special, I mean extra special. Our best friend Dave Quiggle had a piece of his artwork featured in Gallery 1988 in the "There's always money in the banana stand" exhibit. If you have no idea what that means than you've probably never watched Arrested Development. Seriously one of the funniest shows ever and one of our absolute faves.
Friday was the opening night, so my mama came to be with the babies while we went out for a night on the town with some of our closest friends!
We ate at HOME restaurant which was a yummy treat before heading to the gallery. When we arrived, there was a line going all the way down the block to get into the exhibit and only heightened my excitement to get inside to view all the artwork!
Now Davey is amazingly talented, and this was not his first time to have his art in an exhibit, nor was it even one of his greater accomplishments but seeing how this is one of our all time favorite shows we may have been a tad bit more excited and slightly more proud of him than we usually are.
When I say excited I mean ecstatic, and when I say ecstatic I mean I squealed when I saw the creator of the show, Mitch Hurwits waltzing around the place. I may or  may not have been hounding him like the paparazzi as I watched him checking out Davey's artwork.
I was definitely more excited than Davey was to have the creator of the show look at his piece. I was all giddy and snapping pics, none of which are of good quality because the room was packed with hundreds of people and the lighting was crazy!
Oh and major bonus another friend Clark Orr (who is also super talented) had one of his pieces in there and I was kind of like a mom on parent teacher night making them stand next to their pieces (which they refused) and I was just so proud of their work!
After devouring some of the best organic ice cream from Neveux Artisian Creamery  most of our friends had to split, but we felt like the night was young and so the few remaining headed to Mel's diner for second dinner at around 11:00 pm. Yes you read that right, we had second dinner, but this girl was hungry after walking Melrose Ave for blocks on end in my 5" heels yo.
It seriously was a great end to a fantastic evening!
The rest of the weekend we just gardened and lounged around. I spent hours at Home Depot with my mom trying to figure out the best material for my backdrop for the upcoming Craft for a Cause boutique  and had the most fun with her there laughing and scratching idea after idea until we came up with something we thought was fantastic! Of course Micah will ultimately be building our idea so he tweaked it a bit to make it even better and can't wait to see the finished piece.
Today was lovely with my best girl Nat and her hubs as we grilled up some bomb carne asada and swam all afternoon, but of course I didn't take one photo. PHOTO FAIL!

Off to do some stitching for this upcoming show! Save the date people. Like for real, SAVE THE DATE, so you can come and stop and say hi because I'm actually getting quite nervous to put myself out there in a space where I may not sell anything!!! So at least if I see your sweet smiling faces and get some hugs that will be totally worth it!
